Abstract:
When learning complex contents, learners are likely to experience various epistemic emotions. The cognitive processes that happen while learning directly cause these emotions, which are confusion, frustration, boredom, flow, etc. In this lecture, we will discuss the causes and the impact of epistemic emotions such as confusion on learning performance and learners’ engagement. Different methodologies for detecting confusion and examples of intervention to manage it will also be presented.
