Shue Yan obtains HK$8.8 million research funding from Research Grants Council


Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) has successful secured HK$8.8 million in funding for 13 research projects under the Research Grants Council (RGC)’s 2024/2025 Competitive Research Funding Schemes for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector (CRFS). Remarkably, HKSYU's application successful rates for the Faculty Development Scheme (FDS) and Inter-Institutional Development Scheme (IIDS), at 32% and 67% respectively, both surpass the average success rates of other listed institutions in Hong Kong. Furthermore, the number of successful projects by HKSYU this year marks a record high in a single round since the establishment of the CRFS.

Out of the 13 funded research proposals, 11 have been awarded funding through the FDS, while two projects have received support under the IIDS (please see table). This outstanding accomplishment not only reflects the dedication of our faculty and researchers but also underscores HKSYU’s commitment to fostering a vibrant research culture.

All 13 successful projects are grounded in the “Humanities and Social Sciences” discipline, perfectly aligning with the university's mission to advance digital humanities and redefine liberal arts education.
