Departmental Research Committee (DRC)

Terms of Reference

The Departmental Research Committee will be chaired by a senior and active researcher while all other staff in professorial track serve as members. It should at least have one meeting per semester.

1. To develop, promote and enhance department’s research strategy to meet the research objectives of the University as articulated in the University Strategic Development Plan.
2. To encourage faculty members to meet current and emerging research opportunities and to increase the quality and quantity of research output.
3. To monitor, review and improve research performance of staff in the Department by encouraging applications for internal and external funding.
4. To consider the proposed establishment and dissolution of research centers and make recommendations to the RO and URC.
5. To review the performance of research centres affiliated with the Department.
6. To promote and share good practice in respect of research.
7. To submit an annual Research Performance Report to the URC and RO.
