Chinese Cultural Heritage Research Centre

 

The Chinese Cultural Heritage Research Centre is dedicated on the preservation, study, and promotion of Chinese cultural heritage. The Centre's primary aim is to safeguard the rich and diverse cultural traditions of China, ensuring they are passed down to future generations while fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of these traditions both locally and internationally.

Aims and Objectives 

Preservation and Conservation: The Centre is committed to the preservation and conservation of Chinese cultural heritage. This includes protecting historical artifacts, architectural sites, and intangible cultural practices. By employing advanced conservation techniques and methodologies, the Centre ensures that these cultural treasures are maintained in their original form for future generations to study and enjoy.

 

Research and Documentation: One of the core objectives of the Centre is to conduct in-depth research on various aspects of Chinese culture. This includes studying historical traditions, religious beliefs, and artistic expressions. The Centre also focuses on documenting these findings to create a comprehensive repository of knowledge that can be accessed by scholars, students, and the general public.

 

Education and Outreach: The Centre places a strong emphasis on education and outreach. Through programs like the Little Historians Training Program, the Centre aims to engage young people in the study of Chinese history and culture. This program is designed to foster a sense of pride and responsibility among the younger generation towards their cultural heritage.

 

Cultural Exchange and Dissemination: The Centre actively promotes cultural exchange and dissemination. By organizing events, exhibitions, and competitions, such as the Walking with History: Time Travel Novel Competition, the Centre encourages creative engagement with historical narratives. These activities help to spread awareness and appreciation of Chinese culture beyond national borders.

 

Community Engagement: The Centre works closely with local communities to ensure that cultural heritage is preserved in a way that respects and involves those who are its custodians. This includes collaborating with community leaders, cultural practitioners, and other stakeholders to develop sustainable heritage management practices.

 

The research areas are broadly defined and includes but is not limited to the following areas:
•   Chinese intangible cultural heritage and transmission, including in overseas contexts;

•   Chinese material culture and heritage;

•   Chinese digital heritage;

•   Documentation of Chinese heritage, in terms of its history and practices; and

•   Community engagement with Chinese heritage.

教育推廣:透過「小小歷史學者計劃」等項目,引導青少年深入學習中華歷史文化,培育新生代對文化根源的自豪感與守護責任。

 

文化交流與傳播:舉辦「與歷史同行:香港中學生穿越小說比賽」等文化活動及特展,以創意敘事活化歷史,推動中華文化跨越地域的認知與共鳴。

 

社區協作:與在地社群攜手發展永續遺產管理機制,尊重文化守護主體,匯聚社區領袖、傳統藝師及相關持份者共同參與。
