Introduction: 
The Tin Ka Ping Teaching and Research Centre for Filial Piety was established through the generous support of the Tin Ka Ping Foundation. The foundation was founded by Dr. Tin Ka Ping, who was born in Dabu, Guangdong. Dr. Tin grew up in a family engaged in business and industry, learning from his father, Mr. Tin Yuk Woo, the importance of diligence, frugality, and filial piety. Dr. Tin valued family education as well as schooling and Chinese cultural education, famously stating that "China's hope lies in education." In 1982, he established the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, dedicating himself to education-centred philanthropy, promoting education across China, and contributing significantly to the nation's educational development. 

Purpose: 
As stated in the *Classic of Filial Piety*: "Filial piety begins with serving one's parents," meaning that filial virtue starts within the family. Since filial piety is a universal value, the Centre aims not only to research the concept of filial piety and integrate its spirit into education for broader dissemination—enhancing filial piety education in Hong Kong and beyond—but also to help more young people and the general public understand and practice filial piety, ultimately giving back to society.  

The Tin Ka Ping Teaching and Research Centre for Filial Piety upholds the foundation’s mission to "promote moral education, advance Chinese culture, integrate global civilizations, and improve the quality of education in China to contribute to the nation." The Centre is dedicated to researching and promoting filial piety culture with the following objectives:  

• To uphold the spirit and values of Chinese filial culture;  
• To conduct research on Chinese filial culture and related academic fields;  
• To encourage the social practice of filial virtue;  
• To popularise knowledge of filial piety culture.

田家炳孝道文化教研中心

中心介紹：

田家炳孝道文化教研中心由田家炳基金會慷慨資助而成立。田家炳基金會創始人為田家炳博士。田老生於廣東大埔，家中經營工商業維生，並從父親田玉瑚公學習到勤儉和孝道的重要性。田老重視家庭教育，也重視學校及中華文化的教育，曾說過「中國的希望在教育」。在1982年，田老創立田家炳基金會，全心投入以教育為中心的慈善工作，將教育推廣至全中國，為中國的教育作出貢獻。

中心目的：

《孝經》中言：「夫孝，始於事親」，就是說孝道是由家庭開始。而孝道作為普世價值，因此中心不但希望透過研究「孝道」的觀念，將「孝道」的精神整合成教育並推廣出去，使香港以至國家在「孝道」的教育上更上一層樓，也希望使更多年輕人以至普羅大眾都了解「孝道」和實踐「孝道」，並回饋社會。

田家炳孝道文化教研中心傳承田家炳基金會「促進道德教育，弘揚中華文化，融合世界文明，以提升中國的教育素質，貢獻國家」的精神，以研究及推廣孝道文化為目的。教研中心的宗旨如下：

• 弘揚中國孝文化精神及觀念；
• 研究中國孝文化及其相關學術領域；
• 推動孝德的社會實踐；
• 普及孝道文化知識。
